A new day, and another small sign of affiliate marketing progress.
Today will include my usual content distribution across Substack, X, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Pinterest. But I also need to spend some time preparing for my coaching call tomorrow.
That preparation feels more interesting now because I am getting closer to creating my first YouTube video using the course and coaching as the framework.
I am still learning the research side, the structure, and how the pieces fit together before actually producing the video.
My earnings have not changed. I am still sitting at just under $200 in affiliate commissions, and my email list remains at 11 subscribers.
So there is no dramatic income update today.
But there are other signs of online business growth that I think are worth paying attention to.
Small Signs of Affiliate Marketing Progress
One thing I have started noticing is a gradual increase in views across Facebook, Pinterest, and LinkedIn (X is not moving, so far).
The numbers are still small.
The same is happening on Substack. More people are liking, commenting, and interacting with what I publish.
That does not mean significant blog traffic or affiliate sales are suddenly around the corner.
It may still take quite a while before social media traffic becomes large enough to create regular clicks to my blog and affiliate links.
But I would much rather see the numbers slowly moving upward than staying completely flat.
Early affiliate marketing progress does not always show up as commissions.
Sometimes the first signs are simply:
More views.
More interaction.
More people recognizing your content.
More opportunities for somebody to discover your blog.
If you are publishing content but every visitor disappears after one click, getting more traffic alone may not solve the problem. A better first step is having a system that can keep the lead and give you a way to follow up.
Content Distribution Needs Time
I think this is one of the hardest parts of building online.
You can do the work today without seeing the result today.
A Pinterest pin might take time to gain impressions.
A LinkedIn post might reach a few more people than the previous one.
A Substack relationship might develop over weeks through comments and conversations.
An article might sit quietly before eventually bringing someone into your world.
That is why I am trying not to judge content distribution by what happens during a single day.
The goal is to keep building enough useful entry points that people can discover me through different platforms over time.
Yesterday I wrote about how one of my newest subscribers came through a relationship I had built on Substack rather than through an aggressive promotion.
Read yesterday’s article about affiliate marketing relationships here.
That experience reinforced something I am increasingly convinced of.
Traffic matters.
But relationships, email list building, and follow-up are what can make that traffic more valuable.
Preparing My First YouTube Video
Another part of today’s work is preparing for tomorrow’s coaching call.
I feel like I am finally getting closer to my first YouTube video in this type of format.
What I am learning is that YouTube affiliate marketing starts long before pressing record or opening an editing tool.
There is research.
There is topic selection.
There are titles, keywords, competition, images, and viewer intent to think about.
I am still at the learning stage, but each coaching session makes the process a little clearer.
The important thing for me is not to rush out a video simply to say I have published one.
I would rather understand the process and build something I can repeat.
Working on Automatic Blog Traffic
I am also continuing to work on another part of my online business system.
I have previously mentioned that I am trying to set up a system designed to bring automatic traffic to my blog.
I ran into a technical problem, opened a support ticket, and have now received an answer.
So today I hope to move that setup another step forward.
I probably will not finish it because I am travelling for a short while this evening, but that is fine.
The important thing is that the obstacle is no longer completely unknown.
There is now a next step.
That is often what progress looks like.
Not finishing everything.
Just removing one obstacle and moving a little further.
Build the Asset Behind the Traffic
More views on Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and Substack are encouraging.
But views alone are not the business I want to build.
I want those views to eventually lead people to useful content.
Some of those readers may become subscribers.
Some subscribers may stay connected through email follow-up.
And when a relevant affiliate recommendation genuinely helps them, some may eventually become customers.
That is the system I am trying to build.
If you are still relying on random affiliate clicks and hoping the visitor buys immediately, I think there is a better model to understand first.
Another Quiet Step Forward
My earnings are unchanged.
My list is still at 11 subscribers.
My first YouTube video is not published yet.
The automatic blog traffic system is not fully set up.
And yet I feel like things are moving.
More people are seeing the content.
More people are interacting.
The YouTube process is becoming clearer.
One technical problem has moved closer to a solution.
That is enough progress for today.
This is still a marathon, not a sprint.
The job is to keep publishing, learning, improving, and building the system until the small signs eventually become bigger ones.
