Yesterday brought another small but welcome result in my affiliate marketing journey.
I made another sale worth just over $22.
It is obviously not a life-changing amount of money, but I continue to see these smaller sales as confirmation that the system is working. Every sale gives me more data, more experience, and another small step forward.
My subscriber count, on the other hand, has stayed roughly the same since my last update.
That is something I still need to improve.
But right now, one of the most important pieces of the puzzle is finally in place:
tracking.
I Can Finally Follow the Traffic Properly
Over the last few days, I have spent quite a bit of time improving how I track visitors and clicks across my online business.
I now have Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and UTM tracking set up so I can start following the journey more clearly.
For example, I want to know:
- Where did a visitor come from?
- Which blog post did they read?
- Which links did they click?
- Did they continue to ClickBank Profit Club?
- Did they click through to Coaching Profit System?
- Which traffic sources actually produce useful activity?
That last question is particularly important.
It is easy to publish content on Facebook, Substack, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest and other platforms and feel productive.
But activity is not the same thing as results.
If you are also trying to build an affiliate marketing business and want to see the system that helped me start generating my first commissions, you can learn more about ClickBank Profit Club here.
From Traffic Numbers to a Measurable Journey
Until recently, I could see that people were visiting my blog, but it was much harder to understand what happened after they arrived.
That is changing now.
The goal is to eventually be able to see a chain that looks something like this:
Facebook → blog post → ClickBank Profit Club click
or:
Substack → blog post → Coaching Profit System click
That gives me something much more useful than simply knowing how many page views I received.
If, for example, 100 people arrive from Facebook and 20 of them click through to an offer, that tells me far more about the quality of that traffic.
Over time, I should be able to compare different traffic sources and different pieces of content and put more effort into the things that actually produce results.
That is a major part of what I am trying to build now.
A Separate Affiliate Marketing Project
I’m also hoping to finish another YouTube video today for my fitness channel.
That project is separate from ClickBank Profit Club because the channel is focused on promoting physical products rather than digital products. But it is still affiliate marketing, so it gives me another way to learn about content creation, product promotion and what actually gets people to click.
I’ll admit that I don’t find this side of affiliate marketing quite as enjoyable as working with ClickBank and CBPC at the moment.
A big part of that is probably because creating the videos still takes me quite a long time.
I expect it will become much more enjoyable once I get faster at producing and editing them and develop a more efficient workflow.
For now, I see it as another useful experiment — and another skill I’m building alongside the main business.
Another Ordinary Day — and That Is Fine
Not every day in an online business is going to contain a big breakthrough.
Today included a cycling session, some work on the business, and the normal process of continuing to publish and improve things.
Tomorrow will actually be slightly unusual for me.
I will be helping count votes in my local municipality as part of the final Wednesday vote count following the Swedish election.
That should be my final involvement in the practical handling and counting of votes for this election.
After that, things return to normal.
And for me, “normal” increasingly means one thing:
build.
Build the audience.
Build the email list.
Build the traffic.
Build the tracking.
Build the content.
And eventually, build products and assets that I own.
Keep Publishing
My current plan is not complicated.
I will continue publishing and distributing content through:
X, Substack, LinkedIn, Facebook and Pinterest.
But now I should gradually become better at measuring what those activities actually accomplish.
That is an important change.
Instead of simply asking:
“How much content did I publish?”
I increasingly want to ask:
“What happened because I published it?”
That is the question that matters.
Yesterday brought another $22 sale.
Today the tracking infrastructure is finally in place.
Tomorrow I count votes.
And then it is back to building.
One step at a time.
